BATON ROUGE, La. (December 13, 2024) – SweetSpot, a leading innovator in backyard experiences, proudly announces the successful completion of the school donation phase of its Players with Purpose initiative. This groundbreaking program, launched earlier this year, celebrates inclusivity and determination by supporting young athletes of all abilities through sponsorships and product donations. As part of this effort, SweetSpot partnered with Redstick C.A.R.E.S., St. Michael the Archangel High School and St. Lillian Academy, donating products specifically tailored to the needs of their students.
To ensure the donations best serve each school, SweetSpot engaged in interviews with teachers to understand the unique needs of their student communities. Based on these insights, the donations included customized product packages designed to enhance accessibility and promote inclusive play. SweetSpot CEO Joe Lawrence then personally delivered the products to each school, assisted with assembling the equipment and joined students in play sessions.
“Our mission is to make everyone feel like a champion, and moments like these reinforce our commitment to inclusivity and community,” said Lawrence. “Seeing the students’ faces light up as they played with the equipment was an unforgettable experience. It reminded me of why we do what we do. Spreading joy and the love of play is at the heart of everything SweetSpot stands for.”
Players with Purpose began with the selection of five Miracle League of Louisiana athletes from Baton Rouge as inaugural brand ambassadors, each receiving a suite of SweetSpot products and monetary sponsorships to help fund their individual athletic journeys. The program also included product donations to the Miracle League to enhance the experience for all participants.
“As a parent, seeing Jack and Parker feel like they’re part of something bigger has been incredible,” said Jen Connison, mother of SweetSpot’s Players with Purpose athletes Jack and Parker. The 15-year-old twin brothers are on the autism spectrum. “SweetSpot has gone above and beyond to make my boys and their teammates feel like superstars. Whether it’s through the equipment, the sponsorships or the personal connection they’ve fostered, SweetSpot has made a lasting impact on our family and this community.”
The school donation initiative is a cornerstone of SweetSpot’s commitment to inclusivity, aligning with its broader goals to promote accessibility in sports and education. This phase marks the culmination of a larger effort to bring the joy of sports to young athletes and students in Baton Rouge and beyond.
